Tri-Cities, WA
June 7 – August 2, 2025
Includes housing and a $2,500 stipend.
The Mission
The Tri-Cities is one of the fastest growing areas in Washington. The area is about 300,000 people located at the confluence of the Yakima, Snake and Columbia Rivers. The Tri-Cities area was formed by the US government to support the Hanford Nuclear plant to produce plutonium for nuclear weapons in the 1940s. The area has a long history of separation between military officers, enlisted personnel, and workers of color. While much has changed, inequality still exists especially in communities of color.
The Tri-Cities has a connection to science and technology through Hanford and its engineering community. This makes it a perfect place to inspire under resourced children with STEAM activities.
Tri-Cities QuadW interns will focus on creating relationships with marginalized communities, while supporting established ministries with children and youth. Interns serve at children’s camps, day camps, and youth programs in East Kennewick and East Pasco, building relationships and transforming lives through one-on-one and group engagement.
Interns can expect:
Working with children at youth camps.
Designing and leading new programs that will continue throughout the year.
The Site
Interns will partner with Hillspring Church and Tri-Cities Community Connections to undertake eight weeks of quality engagement in the lives of area residents. Interns will be housed at the Hillspring campus in Richland. Interns will experience “Spiritual Fridays”, a day set aside each Friday to explore personal spiritual growth, enhance spiritual reflection, and discuss call and career direction in the beautiful Columbia Basin of eastern Washington. Spiritual conversations are enhanced by floating down the Columbia River, Hiking Badger Mountain, exploring area vineyards, and journaling on Red Mountain.
