The Mission
Nuevo Laredo is situated on the northeastern border of Mexico with the United States. It holds significant importance in the history and expansion of the Christian faith in Mexico and the rest of Latin America. While Nuevo Laredo is a city with enterprising individuals and immense potential, social issues in recent years have significantly impacted the community.
In collaboration with Monte Carmelo Methodist Church, interns will engage with children, youth, and adults in various projects, aligning with the mission's objective to establish the first self-sustaining community center in Nuevo Laredo. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to participate in our Vacation Bible School (VBS) for children, where they can teach subjects they are passionate about, including Bible classes, languages, music, art, and more, to children and youth in our community.
Proficiency in Spanish is not required! Interns will meet young people from different languages and cultures during our internship.
Interns in Nuevo Laredo can expect:
Sharing the Gospel in a multicultural setting.
Creating new development opportunities for the community.
Collaborating on various community projects involving children, youth, and adults.
Developing skills to connect with and inspire the youth in our city.
The Site
From supporting small family businesses and startups to being part of the city's strategic team for addressing humanitarian and social crises (such as school dropout rates or the migration phenomenon), our interns have contributed to various social aid and development projects in the city since 2020. Interns will actively participate in evangelism and prayer across different cities in Mexico, with ample opportunities to share the Gospel in a culturally immersive experience.
All this is accomplished in partnership with Monte Carmelo Methodist Church, a congregation of warm and loving people who will be delighted and honored to welcome you.
“I faced my fears with God. I got to know the true Christian life. I also realized that the call to the missional church is for everyone. God also revealed more to me about the things he has called me to do in my life!”

Site Director,
Jaser Davila
Hi! I'm Jaser Davila, Senior Pastor of the historic Monte Carmelo Methodist Church in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. I have been happily married to Isabel since 2018. She is not only beautiful but also an extraordinarily joyful person, with a lovely heart, and a wonderful partner in ministry (she is just perfect).
About our family:
In 2021, baby Sofia was born, and in March of 2023, baby Xandra arrived, making us the proud parents of the most perfect and beautiful babies in the whole world! And we also have a huge, loving, and smart Labrador retriever that you are going to love. Her name is Hope, and she speaks English (sometimes better than me).
God called me to be a pastor when I was just 19 years old (16 years ago, you can do the math). I have had the privilege to pastor four border-town churches in the US-Mexico region. I love teaching, preaching, and serving in missions. I believe that through the Gospel, the church can change the world!
Besides ministry, I enjoy writing, watching movies, going on road trips, and indulging in ethnic food and BBQ ribs. But I'm always eager to discover new culinary experiences.

I love to eat! I think it's a great way to meet people, live together and experience different cultures (did you know that there are at least 60 different types of tacos in Mexico?). I love watching and analyzing movies of all genres (except horror, I don't like them). I love traveling through Mexico, my family and I have a list of 134 cities in this country that we want to visit... we have only 7. I love learning new things all the time, I am very curious. But my biggest passion is being a pastor... you may find it boring, but trust me... it's been amazing!

This is the bravest and most creative generation that humanity has ever had. It is a curious generation, with resources in its hands that at another time could be unimaginable. The information and technology at your fingertips has never been more accessible than today. Furthermore, it is an empathetic generation, with a desire to fight for its convictions and equal opportunities for all. I believe that in Christ we can guide all that potential and good intentions to extend the Kingdom of God in innovative ways.

We're always intrigued by the stories of ordinary, faithful followers of Jesus, especially those who persevere to continue making disciples through suffering and/or dark places.
